Greetings
and Peace,
I had a so called "Man of God" tell me that he don't waste time on "Doctrine", which only said to me that he had no "Idea" why he was in ministry. It is these type of ministers who are keeping God's people in bondage and leading many innocent believers to "Hell". Doctrine is a big deal.
1.1- Doctrine defined
I had a so called "Man of God" tell me that he don't waste time on "Doctrine", which only said to me that he had no "Idea" why he was in ministry. It is these type of ministers who are keeping God's people in bondage and leading many innocent believers to "Hell". Doctrine is a big deal.
1.1- Doctrine defined
Doctrine is a synonym for teaching - Sound
doctrine broken down is reveals that the word "sound," translated to
English from the Greek word "hugiaino," which simply means uncorrupt
or healthy (Strong's 5198). The word doctrine was translated to English from
the Greek word "Adidas," meaning teaching (Strong's 1319). Putting
the two words together we have teachings that are healthy and uncorrupted.
1.2 – What cause doctrinal fear
The Word of God is interpreted two ways,
soundly or corruptly. Sound being God’s way and corrupt when man is influenced
by his desire to be right at truths expense. Paul the Apostle said, “This
people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips;
but their heart is far from me. But in vain they do worship me, teaching for
doctrines the commandments of men (Matthew 15:8-9).”
The church today is guilty of wounding the
people of God by teaching and observing the doctrines of men and even demons.
Ignorance causes many to reject sound doctrine this is why the Apostle Paul
warned us that a time will come near the end when many shall depart from faith
This is why many church leaders view the word doctrine as irreligious. Prideful
men has weakened this word so that it now carries little or no importance at
all
1.3 - Warning of end time departure from the
faith
Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the
latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits,
and doctrines of devils; Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience
seared with a hot iron; Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from
meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which
believe and know the truth. For every creature of God is good, and nothing to
be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving: For it is sanctified by the word
of God and prayer. If thou put the brethren in remembrance of these things,
thou shalt be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished up in the words of
faith and of good doctrine, whereunto thou hast attained (1 Timothy 4:1-6).”
1.4 – Warning of doctrinal corruption
When doctrinal corruption had begun to
infiltrate the church at Ephesus, Paul was concerned and gave this advice; “As
I besought thee to abide still at Ephesus, when I went into Macedonia, that
thou mightest charge some that they teach no other doctrine,
neither give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which minister questions, rather than godly edifying which is in faith: so do (1 Timothy 1:3-4)".
neither give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which minister questions, rather than godly edifying which is in faith: so do (1 Timothy 1:3-4)".
1.5 – Understanding why doctrinal truth is
necessary
We are living in the last days and it is
imperative that Christians be alert (1 Timothy 4:13). Christians are to “Take
heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this
thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee (1 Timothy 2: 16).” Those
who are not teaching sound doctrine are causing division in the Body of Christ
and should be avoided (Romans 16: 17). There is only one way to teach the Word
of God and that is His way.
Let as many servants as are under the yoke
count their own masters worthy of all honor, that the name of God and his
doctrine be not blasphemed. And they that have believing masters, let them not
despise them, because they are brethren; but rather do them service, because
they are faithful and beloved, partakers of the benefit. These things teach and
exhort. If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to wholesome words, even
the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to
godliness;
He is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings, perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself (1 Timothy 6:1-5).

1.6 – Hold on to sound doctrine
Healthy doctrine is God inspired and comes
from the Bible. All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable
for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness (2
Timothy 3:16). Paul warns Timothy to hold tightly to the doctrine that he
taught him in faith and love (2 Timothy 1: 13). Christians are warned so that
we are not deceived. The uncompromised Word of God is what convinces those that
are enlightened bringing them unto the knowledge of the truth (Titus1: 9).
Once we have been enlightened, we must be
careful not to accept any doctrine that cannot be fully substantiated in God's
Word. Many people of God assume that all the doctrine coming across pulpits are
error free which is not the case. One must study to show oneself approved unto
God; believers must rightly divide the Word of truth (2 Timothy 2: 15). We must
be as the Berean people of the Bible they thoroughly examined all hand-me-down
doctrines (Acts 17:11).
1.7 – Failure to follow the doctrine of Christ
Failure to follow Christ’ doctrine mean
separation from God, the Bible flat out tell us “Whosoever transgresseth, and
abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the
doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son. If there come any unto
you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid
him God speed (II John 1:9-10).
1.8 – How the Body of Christ is unified
Teaching sound doctrine is the unifying power
that eliminates the consequence that comes from disobedience, which cuts us off
from the power of God. The Holy Spirit comes when the Body is on one accord
(Acts 2:1). The Body of Christ must be of the same mind (Philippians 2:1-5).
God’s Word is not open to private interpretation (2 Peter 1:20-21). It is
either interpreted and taught right or wrong; it is the believer’s job to
recognize error. Those who fail to understand and teach the Word of God
correctly teach it incorrectly will pay the price of failing God (James 3:1; 2
Peter 3:16).
